What Is Metadata?

Details for each book or page exists in its metadata. It contains the title, language, summary, subject, keywords, as well as authors, copyright holders, and maintainer roles.  Other sections are auto-generated such as the content ID, publication date, and latest revision date. You can see the metadata by clicking the metadata tab at the top of every book or page.

Metadata can be useful for viewers because it contains the summary, as well as subjects and keywords. This information can help them quickly determine whether the content is useful or give them search terms to find similar content. The image below shows the metadata for this page.
